La alternancia del 2000 en primera plana
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show by means of a reading of the semiotic and linguistic aspects of news discourse, how the political alternating process phenomenon was built just a few hours after Vicente Fox’s success in the presidential elections was announced. The corpus is constituted by the front page of ten national newspapers published on July 3, 2000. The analysis is aimed to give answers to the following questions: what was the role that the press played in an unusual political situation?, what was the discursive horizon that back up this first discursive approach of the alternating process?, how as this event assimilated by the newspapers of different political tendencies?, and what was the role that different elements of the news discourse (linguistic, paralinguistic and iconic) played in the construction of sense.
