Abstract

As an analyst of the word of image, Frencois Jost verifies a lack of conceptual tools for the study of television programs. He discusses in the first place the specificity of the medium, as well as representation phonomena that can be located within a gradation from "reality" to "fiction". He starts from the theoretical presumption of Kate Hamburger (Logic of litary genres) in order to suggest a series of categories that into account the mechanisms and procedures realized in television programs for a certain sense construction. The above said categories are illustrated with programs of the French television.
