Televisión, cultura política y cambio epistémico
Abstract
This essay attempts to point out the damage that political culture and the construction of public opinion have suffered in the transition from a culture based on logos to a visual culture. This phenomenon is considered by the author as symptomatic of a change of episteme, discursive practices and knowledge that the new technologies have brought about. The television coverage of the murder of the entertainer Francisco (Paco) Stanley is taken as an exemplary case of the intentional production of meanings (from a phenomenological point of view) via the representation of reality which is a characteristic of t.v. viewing that confirms social heteronomy.
