La invención de la máscara
Abstract
In this article the author analyses some of the most important studies of the "identity of the Mexican" (specially the studies of Samuel Ramos, Octavio Paz and Roger Bartra). He explores their different perspectives and results. He concludes with Roger Bartra that the "identity of the Mexican" is an artistic creation, a fiction; and the studies of it are just "inventions of a mask" of the real Mexican they pretend to analyze. According to him, these real Mexican would laugh at these inventions.
