Notas al margen del Coloquio de Invierno

Abstract

This article is about the Winter Colloquium organized by the National University, the journal Nexos, and the National Council for the Culture and the Arts, to discuss the great changes of our time, during February 1992. More than a detailed discussion about al1 the participations, these notes are about some major contemporary tendencies in the political and social discourses in the continent, which were especially relevant in this Colloquium. Specifically, those referred to the temptation to resemantizing the problems of "national identity", the "spirit of the peoples", or the rescue of the "collective memory". The main motivation for this essay is the tendency to exhuming these subjects that have old roots in the political philosophy and in the politics of nationalism, precisely at the wake of the millenium, and under the circumstances of the countries of the region.
