Abstract
In this article the author describes the role of television as a modernizing agent,, as constructor of regional and national identities and as legitimize of State projects through an analysis of the role of TV in Mexico and the programming intended to reach the .hispanic comrnunity in the USA. This article analyzes the hispanic network, the importance of the monopoly Televisa, and also their recent strategies of commercial expansion taking in consideration a whole set of programs and State propaganda. All this leads to the reflexion upon the transformation of the relation in terms of public and private space in the mexican and northamerican societies.
