Las emociones como efectos de discurso

  • Patrick Charaudeau

Abstract

In human and social sciences, emotions are the object of analysis of different studies that depend on the specificity of every discipline. Emotions have been the essence of reflection of ancient (Aristotle) after the Latin (Cicero) philosophy, also in contemporary philosophy (phenomenology). The problematic of this text centers on one question: opposite to these other social disciplines –that are a part of human and social sciences– can this notion constitute the object of an study, more specifically, of language? This contribution aims at answering this question in an affirmative way with an analysis that focuses, first, on the space that emotions fill up inside human and social sciences as a phenomenon of representation, in relation to belief knowledge. Secondly, it tries to present the discursive problematic of emotion and to explain the frame of setting discourse on stage and to show how it can be analyzed. Finally, in order to illustrate this approach, the effect of emotion in political speech is shown.
