Abstract

Based on a qualitative and ethnographic research located in Buenos Aires City we argue that technological change enables the develop of a new social settings from which innovations of youth music practices are observed in three directions. 1) The modification of musical taste hierarchies and the release of cataloging existing patterns in musical preferences. 2) The role of the music producers: a musical practice redefinition given by the emergence and consolidation of the emergent musician figure. 3) The transformations of the musical practice conditions and musical professional stability and legitimacy. In this article we intend technological and social determinism far apart by considering music as an object that lies in the relationship between subject and technologies.
