Abstract

Abstract: In this research, we analyze the representations about sexuality that were enunciated in the parliamentary debate on August 16th, 2006, in Argentina, due to the Sexual Education project. In order to do so, we adopt the method created by Critical linguistics (Hodge y Kress, 1979), which postulates that every dialect provides its speakers with models to classify and interpret the events of the world. The aim of this article consists in analysing whether the Sexual Education project is supported by a discourse which questions the referential focus imposed by the dominant discourse (Raiter, 1999). This discourse marks this sign with repressive values, through immorality, associated with sin or the stigmatization of certain sexual practices, or fear, to contract diseases, to be a victim of abuse or to conceive without planning.
